Dr. Kumar Mallikarjunan's Food Engineering Laboratory at Virginia Tech


Welcome to our Food Engineering Group website. Dr. Kumar Mallikarjunan's research group in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech was established in Jan. 1999. Since then many students and scholars from around the world have conducted research here. The research by group is focused on food process engineering and development of rapid non destructive sensing methods. Food process engineering research includes process development, process modeling and integration of food quality and food safety. Non-destructive sensing research includes applications using electronic nose, Fourier transformation infrared spectrascopy and ultrasound.
